Who we are

Built by emergency managers, for emergency managers.

OnlyPEMs is a free, practitioner-led community hub for professional emergency managers — from full-time county directors to volunteer fire-department liaisons. We built this because the field deserves a place to share knowledge without paywalls, vendor pitches, or noise.

Our mission

Emergency management is one of the most relationship-driven professions in public service. When the next incident hits, you call the people you trust — and that trust is built long before the activation.

OnlyPEMs exists to accelerate that trust-building. We provide free access to ICS forms, a searchable training calendar, a grants resource directory, and a community forum where practitioners can ask real questions and get real answers from peers who have been there.

We are not affiliated with FEMA, DHS, or any government agency. We are practitioners who believe the field is stronger when we share what we know.

What we stand for

Practitioner-first

Every resource, discussion, and feature is evaluated through one lens: does it help someone do their job better?

Inclusive of all levels

Paid staff and volunteers, urban and rural, career and part-time — all emergency managers are welcome here.

Accurate and current

We link to authoritative sources, flag outdated content, and rely on community expertise to keep information reliable.

Respectful discourse

This is a professional community. Debate is welcome; personal attacks, political grandstanding, and vendor spam are not.

Community guidelines

By joining OnlyPEMs you agree to keep this a useful, respectful space for everyone.

01

Be professional

Treat every member with the same respect you'd expect at a multi-agency coordination meeting.

02

Stay on topic

Keep discussions relevant to emergency management. Off-topic posts may be moved or removed.

03

No vendor solicitation

Unsolicited product promotion, affiliate links, and sales pitches are not permitted in the forums.

04

Cite your sources

When sharing guidance, link to the authoritative source. Anecdote is valuable; unverified claims presented as fact are not.

05

Protect sensitive information

Do not post SSI, CUI, or any information that should not be publicly available.

06

Report, don't retaliate

If you see a rule violation, use the report function. Do not engage in public call-outs.
